I hope everyone knows that the English language is, in a nutshell, pure slang and dumb-down to the actual English language. Take example of Beowulf, one of English’s most respected and historic poem in the world. English never consisted of each letter possessing it’s own phonetic or syllable.
Quoting from Beowulf, p.1; s.1:Næs hie ðære fylle gefean hæfdon,

Those sinful creatures had no fill of rejoicing that they consumed me, assembled at feast at the sea bottom; rather, in the morning, wounded by blades they lay up on the shore, put to sleep by swords, so that never after did they hinder sailors in their course on the sea. The light came from the east, the bright beacon of God.
Truth be told, Old English is a form a dialect that was once slightly obscure to the change and formation of grammar and text, but within a few centuries, English sprouted into a dialect in which we use today.
